A Day At The Park

Saturday we spent the afternoon in the shade under a tree at the local park. Rocco was in a chill mood and for the most part sat on the blanket with us and watched the other kids run around in the hot sun. Rocco kind of learned to drink out of a water bottle. Well, not really, but he did learn to hold it in his mouth with no hands. The water that was in the bottle went all down the front of him. But maybe he meant to do that, it was hot outside.

Rocco has the hair that all the teenage boys want. It is so naturally cool, just like Rocco. We were going to cut it last weekend and I wanted Mimi to get to see the curls one more time and when we went to her house she said, no don't cut the curls. Ok, so we didn't cut them. I have trimmed the bangs a couple of times, but I think I need to get the side wings next time. But once that hot summer comes, the curls will be coming off, I think.

A Day In The Yard

Gosh, with this nice weather that we have been having, it gives me a little taste of what summer is going to be like this year. I think we will be spending most of our time outside exploring the yard, playing in the court and at the local park.

Getting all dirty and wet doesn't really bother Rocco nor does it bother me. Nothing a bath and washing machine can't fix. I enjoy watch Rocco exploring all sorts of new things. He loves all the water spots in the yard. In the back of the yard is the spot where we wash rocks. Around the corner is Max's water dish and the yard hose that doesn't even have to be on to be fun.

Family Time

We had dinner over Pop and Mimi's house on Saturday. Rocco and I had corned beef and cabbage for our first time. Rocco got a cool new bike to cruz around in for summer. He also got some tummy love from Mimi and got to show Pop his building skills.

I'm A Tadpole

Rocco completed his first 6 weeks of swimming lessons and got his first ribbon. He really enjoys being in the water. He loved to smile and splash with the other kids, was a great teacher assistant to demonstate the next activity and never was scared to try anything new.

It's The Little Things

Took these pictures of Rocco playing with his Great Grandma Shelley's garlic press. It is something so simple yet I love that I have it. I love to look around my house and see things that have been passed to me by my Grandparents. From a bottle of nail polish, kitchen bowls, book ends, mirrors, jewelry and more. I am blessed to be able to live among these things.

Made Rocco some cottage cheese blueberry pancakes this morning. They were healthy and quick and both us enjoyed them. I will be making these again. Just like the blog says, sounds a little bizarre, but they were yummy. We are also working on using silverware.

Blueberry cottage cheese pancakes

Sounds a little bizarre, I know, but give these a try, no syrup needed!

A Day At The Beach

We met Pop and Mimi at the beach on Sunday. The weather was nice but to cold to go in the water. But that is exactly what Rocco wanted to do. He got his feet wet and played a little along the water. He loved it. Can't wait for summer to get this boy in the ocean.

Water Baby

Rocco has had four swimming lessons and two still to go. He loves it and splashes and smiles the whole time. He loves going down the slide and understand to close his eyes before going under. Just this last Saturday, Jared said he was holding his breathe right before he goes under.

Swimming is a Shelley family favorite. We grew up on water ski trips that started in the days of learning to walk. We all love the water and my sister Stephanie swam the lake at girls camp and received the most times from shore to shore. If I remember correctly, I think it was around 7 times. That is not 7 laps, but 7 laps shore to shore. I remember all of us girls swimming that lake at 6 in the morning before breakfast.

Stick It With A Fork

Rocco used a fork for his first time last night for dinner. He had pumpkin waffles and peaches. I thought this would be a good time to use the fork. Plus I was using my fork for my waffles so I wanted Rocco to feel like his dinner is just like my dinner. He got a really cute silverware set from his daycare provider Jill for his birthday. They are just his size and he feels he is special since he is using what mom and dad use.

I think these pictures look like Rocco was born in the 70s and not to mention he looks like a big boy and not a baby anymore. These make me smile, Rocco makes me smile.
