2 Months Old

Rocco is two months old today. When he woke up from his morning nap, his eye was crusted shut. He was not happy about this. I got a wash cloth with some warm water and cleaned it up. It has been a little goopy all day. He also seems to be sleeping a little more; I think he might be fighting a small cold.

Rocco is a wonderful baby. I enjoy spending every day with him. He gives me big smiles when I talk and sing to him. He is also starting to find his voice and talk and sing back to me. He makes me smile every day. I love being his mom.

Here are some photos from our photo shoot on the lawn today. The blanket is made by his Great Nana. This blanket is perfect for him since one of his nicknames is T-Rex.

My Milazzo Men

Moving On Up

Rocco is already leaving the nest. Well not the big nest, but the parent room nest. He moved out of our room last night. I am not sure how I feel about this, not sure if I am ready for it. Jared went to put him down last night and surprised me of this new location. I know Rocco is getting too big for his bassinet, but I thought he might be able to spend the rest of the month in it. But Jared is right; he really can’t even stretch out in it. So the first night in the big crib and in his own room was a success. He had a great night sleep, although I think he missed me next to him.

So what to do with the bassinet now? Well, someone has already been using it with Rocco. Jared thinks we are going to keep it as a cat bed. I think my friend Tiffany would have a better use for it.

First Park Day

We took Rocco to Vasona Park on Sunday. This was Rocco’s first visit to a park. He pretty much slept the whole time but he was awake here and there. But the day must have worn him out because he slept 8 hours straight that night. When he finally did wake up to eat, he went back for another 2 hours of sleep. He is really a great sleeper. The other nights he has slept 6 and 7 hours. I am a lucky mom!

Rocking the Generations

Jared used to get rocked in this rocker by his mom. Now Jared and Mimi are rocking Rocco in it. What a lucky boy!

Springfield Chilli

I made this yummy chilli the other night. It has a combo of turkey and beef. It is really easy to make, all in one pot too! It is great for dinner and even better the next day. I used regular ground meat and a pale ale beer. I really haven’t experimented with making different chillis. This was my first chilli recipe and I have made it twice. I will try another version next time.

Got one I can try? Send it to me.

Rocco is RAD!

Rocco had his first trip to Santa Cruz last Wednesday. Rocco and I dropped Jared off at work and we went to spend the day at Mimi’s house. (Jared’s Mom) It was a beautiful day. We spent the morning at the house and then went to have lunch with Jared at Sweet Peas in Capitola. Sweet Pea’s actually catered our wedding back in 2000. They just opened a second location in Santa Cruz. After Jared got off work, we all had dinner together.

I actually experienced my first sonic boom this day. This is not crazy talk, check it out. I actually felt it too. I was up stairs feeding Rocco and I thought it was an earth quake. I asked Diana if a truck was coming up her drive way or if she felt it. She also felt the boom. OK, if it wasn't a boom, what was it?

We also experienced our first official baby sitting evening. Jared and I went to an art show in Santa Cruz on Saturday and we dropped Rocco off at Mimi’s and Grandpa Steve’s house. I must admit, it was a bit hard. I am so used to having him right with me. But I knew he was in great hands and I enjoy watching him spend time with his grandparents. We were gone 3 hours and I only called once to check in. :)

Today I got my official first smile from Rocco as I was making faces to him. He has smiled before during feedings when he is almost asleep, he likes to show me he is happy and full. But today was a smile from a reaction of my silliness. It was great. I tired to get it on tape, but he wouldn’t do it again. I kind of got a picture of it though.

Here are some new pictures of Rocco Long Legs Milazzo and a video of me giving him love.

1 Month Old Today

Rocco is one month old today. He is a healthy and happy boy. He sleeps really well during the night which is great. He is up more during the day now. It is a busy job trying to keep him occupied. We go from one entertaining thing to the next.

We had our one month doctor’s visit today. Rocco weights 10 pounds even. That is a total of 2 pounds he gained in three weeks. He also grew 2 inches. The doctor said his weight gain is great, a little above average. But for his height, he is on the slender side. His little thighs are just starting to get meaty. But for the most part, I don’t know where those 2 pounds went. He is really tall and slender.

The doctor said I don’t have to wake up Rocco at night anymore. I was waking him up every 3 hours to feed. But now I can let him wake me up when he is ready. Wow, this is going to be great. Rocco gave me his biggest smile the other day. It was cheek to cheek the biggest smile yet. Speaking of cheeks, I love to kiss them.
