Nana's Visit In Action

Great Nana Visit

We drove to Sacramento on Tuesday to go see Rocco's Great Nana Davenport. We left at 6 in the morning and Rocco slept all but 20 mins of the trip. It was a wonderful day filled with family. We had breakfast with Great Nana, Great Uncle Jeff, and Great Aunt Julie. Then we spent the day at Nana's house. We took a little walk to see the neighbor's horses and even got to pet them.

Rocco ate a big dinner but that didn't stop him from finishing up Great Nana's homemade apple sauce. Cousin Chase was there for dinner as well.

We left that night and again Rocco slept all but 20 mins of the trip. I say that is pretty good timing on our part. Well and Rocco is such a good boy.

New Toy Brings Big Steps

Jared and I gave Rocco one of his gifts on Christmas Eve day. We figured he was going to be getting so many new things and it would be a bit overwhelming. So we spread the gift opening throughout the two days. We let him open up his dump truck with legos inside and sure enough he took off walking.

My First Hair Cut

Ok, well not officially, but I did cut his bangs. Jared was a little scared of my hair cutting techniques, but it turned out just fine.

I must admit, I am not known for my hair cuts, ask Jared and my mom about it.

On the 2nd Day of Christmas

On the 2nd day of Christmas Rocco counts down the days with an advent calendar filled with chocolates that are not as sweet as he.

Actually, Rocco's favorite thing to do with this calendar is crawl and push it around. He just learned to do this the other day with one of his cars. Now that he has mastered it anything works.

Thanks for the advent calendar Mimi and Pop.

Family Traditions

One of the Shelley family traditions was the 12 days of Christmas. Every year we would pick two families and for the 12 nights before Christmas we would drop off a gift that had a poem that we wrote. Some of the things we would give were candles, ornaments and baked goods. As the nights went on the families would try and figure out who was dropping off the gifts. So we had to be fast at ringing the door bell and running. It was a lot of fun trying to keep the secret as long as we could. I am sure some families to this day still don't know who their secret Santa was.

So for Rocco's first Christmas, I will do the 12 days till Rocco's first Christmas.

Enjoy.

I love Daktari

Rocco's latest thing with stuffed animals and now Daktari is to lay his head on them to give them love. He also gives me and Jared these wonderful nudges of love. This morning he found Daktari on the bed and instead of grabbing him, he gave him some love. Daktari always put himself near Rocco. He lays down right in the middle of his blanket, he plays in his fort, he sleeps in his room and doesn't even run aways after he gets some hair pulled out by Rocco. Max and Lander don't really let him get to close. But I did see him get a quick nudge on Max as he passed by.

Sweet Potato Minestrone

Made this wonderful soup yesterday. It was a healthy warm meal that hit the spot for such a cold night. It was quick to prepare and easy to make. We really enjoyed every bite and had the rest for lunch today. I put some in the blender for Rocco and he loved it. There was also enough to blend and put in ice cube trays for additional meals for Rocco. You have got to try it, trust me.

10 Months Old

Rocco is ten months old today. There have been lots of new things going on and I couldn’t be happier about them.

Rocco started a new daycare place this week at Barrett Farms. It is a wonderful place run by Jill. There is Patrick (2) and Allison (1) and Rocco. He eats healthy homemade meals, is learning to take good solid naps, working with sign language and learning focusing skills. My heart smiles from the inside with this change. Rocco has learned in the last two weeks to go to bed without a bottle and how to sooth himself to sleep. We have also eliminated his nighttime bottles. Everything is going really well and he is learning and growing each day. We went to target to get a toy car for him for being such a Rock Star.

On this day he also drew his first blood. He gets so excited when Daddy gets home he can’t wait for him to pick him up. So when Jared came home he was in the kitchen with me while I was cooking dinner. He tried to crawl as fast as he could to Jared and with this speed got a little off balance and his face hit the floor. He busted his lip open and blood went everywhere. He didn’t cry or bleed more than a few minutes but he defiantly gave himself a fat lip.

  • Pulls himself up and is taking a few steps side to side
  • Says – at, cat, lights, eyes
  • Enjoys music and dancing
  • Is learning to share
  • Loves the Christmas lights

I Love Me Some Belly Shots

After dinner and just about to get in my bath.

Oh, how I will never forget. In fifth grade I ran for treasurer. My parents came up with this great slogan for me to use on my poster.

“Don’t rub your belly, vote for Sheryl Shelley”

Rocco you’re lucky your name doesn’t rhyme with belly.

Salon Style Naturally

Yep, it just goes like this naturally.

Curls in the back
Sides forward
Bangs all over the place

Driving My Dad and Max

Took Max to the local school for some open run time. Rocco got to drive the car with Daddy in the drive way. Just a normal Saturday at the Milazzo's.
