Riding the First Wave

What do you do when there is no waves? Take Rocco Out

First Paddle...First Wave.
Santa Cruz, CA

I also got the classic, "Get out of my way Mom"

Grandpa Visits

Grandpa John loves his (almost weekly) visits with Rocco. This day we had lunch on the Capitola pier. Rocco also shared his lunch with the seagulls.

If you ask Grandpa who the boss is, he would say Rocco. Actually I have heard him tell Rocco you are the boss. I tell them both, no you are not the boss. Mom and Dad are the boss. I do think Rocco is the boss of John though. But Grandpa loves it that way.

Picture Love - Milazzo's 2007

I have always loved this picture. It is from September 2007. We were in Sacramento spending time with friends. It seems just like yesterday but really 6 years is a long time ago. Then I think about how long we have been together total and that seems like it just started yesterday.  But 1992 is a long time ago.  21 years together is hard to graps. It seems like it can't be that long ago. We seem too young to have that many years already behind us. Right...I am still young you know. :)

We have been blessed with a great relationship and so many wonderful years together. Looking forward to looking back at today's pictures in 20 years.

Backyard Nights

We got some backyard furniture!! We got two chairs, a table and the best piece that we couldn't resist a daybed. This piece is so fun and I love to snuggle on it. I can foresee lots of naps on this thing.

So far Daktari has gotten the most use out of it. Right after we got it, he was napping on it all day and he would be stretched out as long as he could. No care in the world. Can't wait for summer nights and warm days on this bed with my boys.

Look What I Made - A Kite

Rocco made this cool kite at school. I love the simplicity of this kite. He loves to make things and is so proud of them. He likes to go into my shed and build new toys for Daktari out of string, paper, leaves and glue. His kind heart shines in what he makes for Daktari.

Under For 1 Hour

Rocco was so excited to go under the house and help Dad. He talked about it all day. Once the door was lifted to this special under ground cave, Rocco spent an hour just standing in the one spot. He took pictures, talked about what he saw and only got out once for a potty break and to get a flashlight.

He took about 100 picture with his camera (and I can't believe it they are corrupted and didn't download) of dirt, cables, pipes and more dirt. I really wanted to show these pictures with this post, but they are lost forever.

As he stood there, I sat at the computer and captured what he was saying.

~ Maybe that is why we are loosing so much energy in the bathroom

~ I am like a mystery solver down here

~ Mom, look at that pipe. It goes up instead of straight. Do you think it should be like that?

~ Maybe this pipe is like a drain.

~ Do you think there are spiders down here. Do you think they will bite me?

~ You know what Mom, there is something like…give me your camera

~ I need a camera for small things. Yep, came out good.

~ Hey Mom, do you want to see a picture I took of the dirt.  I will try and take as many coolest pictures

~ Hey Mom, do you want to come look at this, pretty weird.

~ Lets send these pictures to somebody.

~ Hey mom, if you want to take a picture you came to the right place. You know why, because it is nice and dark. Yep, I take a picture of something and it came out good. Yep.

~ Mom, found some green stuff. So I am going to set the camera right here. You want to come see the green stuff I found. My hands are getting dirty. That is ok.

~ Hey Mom, can you bring a light toy down here. Here get me out and I will get it. But put me back in there once I get it. Leave all my stuff there.

~ We have a mystery to solve.

~ We are going to play a game squeaky high voice, that means you are going to have to figure out who the voice is.

Special Mornings Before School

I love when I get to take Rocco to school. Since I leave the house at 5:15 in the morning, I miss the morning routine. But on special days, (day of from work, working from home or sick) I get to take this cute kid to school.

This morning we played cars before school. We raced them down the living room and then moved the crashed ones to the repair shop. We had just about every little car out. I love watching Rocco's imagination as the game develops. He made up the part where the cars that crash, have to get repaired. Then you have to get new ones from his room to make sure you have a handful to push off at race time.

Something special that I do when I take Rocco to school is have him ride is bike. Since Dad has to be at work right after taking him, they usually drive. But when I take him, we can go in a little later and enjoy the ride to school.

Talking with Grandpa

Grandpa loves his visits with Rocco. They enjoy talking and reading about submarines, planes, trains, plants, birds and sunset magazine. Rocco loves his visits with Grandpa.

Here they are hanging out at the kitchen table talking about his new submarine toy.

A Story by Rocco Jay Milazzo

Once upon a time a boy told a story.
He wrote it down with R, O and C's.
He named the author Art Steve.
A piece of art made in the eyes of a beautiful child.

Oh yeah, then Dad threw it away before we can scan it so behold the oil stained story salvaged from the garbage. Dad, stop cleaning for 2 minutes. :)

After School Pick Up

I love picking up Rocco everyday. I love that it is pick up and not dropping off. We hug, smile and get to leave together. It is the reason I leave before the sun even rises. I love to see all the things they are doing in class. I like to hear about his day and the things he learned. I like to sneak in quietly and watch him until one of the kids yells out, "Rocco your Mom is here."

He is getting so big so fast and I haven't taken a photo session of him in awhile, so this day I asked him to sit on the rock and smile.

Rocco got his first surf board! Check it!
