Hope you all don't mind if I share some of my birthday songs with everyone. So many of these messages put a smile on my face and I just can't resist sharing them. I guess you can consider yourself lucky if I answered the phone on this day since there is no replay of our live conversation.
Went to the park last weekend to feed the ducks, walk the trail and stop by the dog park to see all the cute dogs enjoying the sun. We really have been lucky with this great weather. Next time we need to bring more bread, a few slices doesn't last long with all the birds there.
The turtle, although he is dead, was cool for Rocco to see up close and boy did he sure stay still for my picture.
Rocco got this great art easel for Christmas from Mimi and Pop. Rocco has used it just about everyday since. The weather has been so nice we have been spending lots of time outside lately. So I bought some water color paint and moved the easel outside for some fun. Rocco really liked to put the brush in the water, load it up with paint and then put it back in the water.
Rocco's train box just recently double in size thanks to Mimi and Christy. They are on the look out for great finds and have built Rocco a great train collection. We enjoy building new track layouts and seeing if Thomas has enough battery power to make it up the hills. Rocco also likes to connect lots of trains together and drive them around the living room. This is how we roll.
Rocco and I have started role playing in the bath with pirate ducky to go over key lessons in life. These are lessons that Rocco is learning about and sometimes ends up in time out because of them.
No hitting (with hands and swords)
More eating and less playing
Active listener
We go over the lesson, give a hug and go play. Just what happens in real life.
When your mom was a "betty" and your dad was a "skater boy" your bound to have a picture like this. Rocco got his first skateboard from Brian and Katie Vega for Christmas.
It has been really cold here the last few days, but we did get a short bike ride in the other day before the sun set and the cold was too cold to play outside. Rocco is getting really good at speed and balance on his bike. Check him out.
We go to watch the "train" light rail in Campbell a lot. It is great to watch it there because we can get close to the train signals and get an up close look as the light rail goes by. We stop by here a lot on our way home. We dance to the ring on the bell and act like no one is watching.
We spent our New Year Eve night putting Rocco down in his big boy bed for the first time. He has transitioned so well to this new bed. The bed is the only thing that changed really. He goes to bed just as easily has he always has and gives a big sigh as he lays his head down. He is really excited about it and loves to show everyone that comes to the house. He actually is taking longer naps in it. No complaints here.
Jared and I were so excited to get his bed set up and walked in his room multiple times that night to see him sleeping. It is bitter sweet, but I enjoy watching him grow up so much that leaving the crib was easy for me too.
