Fish On

We went fishing a couple of weekends ago at the local pond. We didn't catch any fish but we saw three that enjoyed teasing us as they swam close to the shore right in front of us. But spending time as a family means more than any fish on the line.

These Numbers = Difference

Rocco has been working on numbers at Jill's. These aren't just numbers, they are sorting, matching, order, and pattern in all different forms and I love it!! I am learning new ways myself to making learning fun and to learn about numbers in many different ways.

Most days Rocco does a great job but some days he likes to be a little stinker. So when he doesn't finish his numbers or letters at Jill's, Rocco has home work. We don't get to ride our bike or go to the library, we have to go home and do home work. I think we have had homework three times now. Not bad Rocco, but lets not make it a habit.

With the dice, he has to put all the same numbers in a row.
With the number tiles, he has to put 1-9 in order for each set.

Right now he is working all the way up to 40 with numbers that are on milk caps. He has to put 1-10 in a row and then 11-20, 21-30 and so on. With this format he also gets to see the pattern that under 13 will be 23, 33. Or sometimes he starts with putting all the single numbers together, the teens together, twenties and so on together.

A big THANKS to Jill for all your wonderful techniques and efforts. The type of daycare you provide and the teachings you provide to Rocco and us are setting standards and goals far beyond where we all would be at. Thanks for being such a wonderful teacher and a great educator to us.

The pictures - My Grandpa Shelly and Grandma Shelley
The red hat and glasses are my Grandma Shelley's

These things are Shelley roots!

Licked Clean

Max came in the bathroom the other night while I was giving Rocco a bath. This is not a normal thing Max's does. Just once in a great while will he come in during this time. But this time he got some water, gave some kisses and stayed a while.

Max is getting old and theses moments bring me happiness.

The Train Leads To More Trains

Took Rocco on the Amtrak again. Where did the train ride take us? Up the track about an hour to lunch. Then back an hour to play with trains at home.

Here Birdie

Jared and Rocco made this bird house out of some spare fence pieces lying around. After they were done Rocco wanted to paint it. He had a great time painting it and then end result was well, not much different from the start. With the 5 colors that he was using and the amount of water that was mixed in from the water jar, the paint turned brown and it ended up being a very natural work of art. Jared tired to add yellow highlights towards the end but some how it just kept ended up brown. Now if we could just get a bird to lay some eggs.

Rest Stop

Just a little rest stop while playing in the yard.
